24/26 February

Wow what a great school to be a part of! The first day i went around the school getting to know students and staff. day one just included the team going into the resources room to identify where everything was.

Day 2: I was placed into a year 4/5 class and helped out the teacher a lot - well hopefully. I was able to walk around, look and discuss students work especially their writing. I also experienced the PAT testing. After lunch i had 4 students that were year 7's and taught my first science/maths/stats lesson which went better than expected as i was nervous to take this year group. I need to remember that i am the teacher and what i say goes.

Lesson Evaluation.

Today I felt that my lesson went rather well I stuck to my plan but went a little over time. I was able to activate their prior knowledge by having the learners write on a post it note and stick it on the whiteboard to see whether of not they new anything about force. From that evidence I was able to gather information and formative assessment to see were they were in relation to the learning. I had the students watch a 1 minute animated video discussing what force meant, and had them write down the key words they heard which, added to further discussion after. I then lead the conversation to cars and what kind of force affects it push, pull etc. and how we could make a car travel further. We then discussed a problem that we had which then posed a question (all student lead). We discussed materials we will need in order to do this, and how we will record the results and display them.  The final part of my lesson I had images of push, pull, gravity and lift, which had to be organised into subsections. After this was completed we had a discussion and recorded our reasons to why the images were put into a certain section. The last 5 minutes of the lessons I had the learners complete “exit slips” which allows me to gather formative assessment data to see what the learners had learned.
